Description:

Enzymes are complex proteins that cause a specific chemical change in all parts of the body. For example, they can help break down the foods we eat so the body can use them. Blood clotting is another example of enzymes at work.

Enzymes are needed for all bodily functions. They are found in the mouth (saliva), stomach (gastric juice), intestinal fluids, blood, and every other organ and cell in the body.

Digestive enzymes -- Digestive enzymes, include papain, pepsin, betaine HCL, and hydrochloric acid. In our youth our bodies’ digestive enzymes were able to break down ingested food into vital proteins, fats, and carbohydrates to provide optimal nutrition for the body. But with aging and illness, the body’s digestive functions deteriorate, leading to gas, bloating, partially digested food, nutritional deficiencies, and even inflammatory conditions.

Again it must be said that with the aging process and certain health issues our body’s production of digestive enzymes will be reduced.

Fortunately, advanced enzyme formulations make it possible to enhance digestive health, prevent gastric distress and malnutrition (particularly in the elderly), while protecting against systemic inflammation.

Burt’s Remedies Enzymints contain these complex protein enzymes our body needs.

One effect of this reduction is a bloated feeling soon after eating a large meal. Digestive enzymes are essential to the body’s absorption and full use of food. The primary digestive enzymes are protease (to digest protein), amylase (to digest carbohydrate), and lipase (to digest fat). These enzymes function as biological catalysts to speed the reactions that break down food. Raw foods also provide enzymes that naturally break down food for proper absorption.
